Yukon/BC, July 2003

At 60° N.

July 2003 saw me set out on my first trip north of 60. As part of my summer job working in a lab at the department of geography at University of Toronto, I accompanied a professor and a graduate student to the Yukon and northern BC to do field work. Our job was to collect data from three lakes: Kusawa, Atlin and Kiniskan. This mainly involved taking cores of mud from the bottom of the lakes in order to investigate the sediment record. Other tasks included depth sounding and water testing. The trip lasted two and a half weeks and I saw some stunning scenary. We camped along the way with periodic trips into Whitehorse for supplies.
